What an unforgettable evening we had yesterday at Hanahusa Ochaya, as we celebrated the debut of Shikomi Shion, now known as Kikuno, as a Minarai. The event was a beautiful showcase of her grace, poise, and dedication to the traditions of Kyoto Kagai in Second Life.
As Kikuno took her first steps into the world of the geiko and maiko community, it was clear that her hard work and commitment to mastering the art of Kyoto’s culture will guide her toward an incredible future. From her stunning attire to the graceful movements she displayed, tonight’s Ozashiki was a perfect reflection of the beauty and artistry that define the Kyoto Kagai tradition.
✨ We are so proud of Kikuno’s achievement and look forward to watching her journey unfold as she moves closer to becoming a Maiko. ✨
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special celebration! It was a night to remember, and we can’t wait to share more milestones on Kikuno’s path.

The Members of Hanafusa Okiya
Hanafusa and Komayaka Okiya met with the head dance teacher of the Miyagawacho dance academy to pay their respect, in exchange for their hard work throghout the year they were present a pair of brand new Maiougi with a Wakayabi design that changes each year, by looking closely you can see on the crest which member would have been a Maiko or a Geiko at a certain year, as the crest has different colours. This is a private event for Geiko and Maiko san only, it was held in December 2024
Her Erikae ceremony, marking the transition from Maiko to Geiko, is a significant milestone in her journey. After years of dedication, Kikushino-san has mastered the fine art of dance, music, and etiquette that defines Kyoto’s traditional performing arts.
As a Maiko, Kikushino-san impressed us with her elegance, skill, and grace, always embodying the beauty of Kyoto’s culture. Now, stepping into her new role as a Geiko, she will continue to refine her craft, bringing even more depth and artistry to her performances.
This achievement is not only a personal triumph but a proud moment for Hanafusa Okiya, and the Kyoto arts community. We look forward to seeing all the wonderful things Kikushino-san will bring to the world of Geiko in the years to come.
Let’s all wish Kikushino-san continued success and joy as she begins this exciting new chapter. 🌸👘✨
