Day off at Cinderella's castle

What can be better than spending a day off with sisters at a nice place. Thankfully there is no quarantine in SL so you can walk everywhere you want to. This time day trip was to the Ciderella's Palace - an amazing sim, with many Disney themed attractions. They also hold parades several times a day and on some days they have live storytelling.

The sim is so bright and merry, definitely the best place to go when you feel gloomy
Part of the parade - Aladdin and Jasmine flying above on the magical carpet
It was an amazing day, a refreshing one and now it is time for more events in Kyoto Kagai. We hope that you have same enjoyable days and we're encouraging everyone during these turbulent times to explore SL. There are so many beautiful and creative sims around, dont miss them :)
An perfect ending of a perfect day

Seasonal Kanzashi - Suisen(daffodil)

It's time for beautiful seasonal kanzashi! This time it is Suisen or Daffodil - seasonal flower of March, which is available at Tlalli: The Fair Around The World - March 7th - 21st - East Asia Round.

It is worth mentioning that daffodils are native flowers in Europe and Northern Africa, while in Japan they arrived about 700 years ago. They became symbols of respect, mirth and joyfulness. You can see them as handpainted designs on kimono as well as kanzashi. Interesting thing is that Daffodil kanzashi are specially reserved for Senior Maiko, while Juniors get to wear colorful Nanohana(rapeseed flower).

Hairstyles/Wigs - Tsubushi Shimada (by Kisetsu)

You do already know about hairstyles worn by Maiko san, but what about Geiko, what hairstyles they wear and how they decorate it?
To start with, you might have read in blog that after Maiko has erikae and becomes fully fledged geiko, she switches from hairstyles that are made from her own hair to pre-styled wigs.
Tsubushi shimada style was worn by older women and nowadays is still in use by some of the older, most often natori geiko (Natori are geiko who are recognized as masters of dance or musical instrument).
Hairpins that are used as decoration are much limited to kushi(comb) and kogai stick. Geiko are welcome to add a small stylish maezashi kanzashi at the front.
So what you get in the pack? An accurate Tsubushi shimada, hud for hair color and hud for accessorizes(kushi and kogai). Maezashi not included, you are welcome to choose one of your liking from your inventory.
As always, a beautiful creation worth getting even especially if you adore Japanese coiffure.

March Kitsuke

Members of Hanafusa okiya posing in Gion Higashi Ochaya, decorated specially for the Hinamatsuri celebrations
(from left: Maiko Kikushino, Geiko Kikutsuru, Geiko Kikumaru, Maiko Kikune
Geiko Kikutsuru is wearing light purple hikizuri with exquisite green leaf design. A perfect choice for the spring! It is tied with colorful stripe obi. Her katsura or wig is decorated with a very special maezashi which represents a pinwheel. You see, this type of kanzashi (full kanzashi ensemble of course - hanakanzashi, maezashi and hanagushi) is worn by Minarai in Gion Kobu and Pontocho and is often associated with youthfulness. As march is known of it's Hinamatsuri celebrations, therefore festival dedicated to young girls and women, Geiko Kikutsuru has chosen a hair decoration that represents this joyful event, that takes place only once a year.
Geiko Kikumaru has chosen beautiful light pink geiko hikizuri with white and red plum or ume blossoms carefully hand painted on the silk. This is extremely springtime piece and gives us a feeling of early warmth and yet that we still have to wait a little more to enjoy the spring in its fullest.
A nice white and golden obi with more plum blossoms accompanies her outfit. Her hair is decorated with sister maezashi of the one worn by her oneesan Geiko Kikutsuru
Maiko Kikune's march kitsuke consists of fabulous light blue hikizuri with hand-painted spring blossom motif and a golden obi, different from two of her Geiko sisters'  - it is much longer(over 7 meters!) called darari obi. Please notice a delicate butterfly pocchiri, tied with red obijime - this is the most expensive element worn by Maiko. Her hair is decorated with special seasonal kanzashi worn by senior maiko that feature peony (if you are interested, please read my post about Botan Kanzashi)
Maiko Kikushino, as the youngest of the Hanafusa okiya bouquet, gets to wear the newest and brightest hikizuri. This march you can spot her in a gorgeous black hikizuri with temari(traditional toys, which are nowadays used as a decoration, made by winding dyed thread around a ball construction). It is tied with exquisite obi that can be worn whole year round. Maiko Kikushino's hairstyle is called Wareshinobu and is decorated with colorful seasonal kanzashi. As you can see in the photo above, there is a huge difference in styles between the senior and junior kanzashi motifs. This month kanzashi for junior maiko, worn by Maiko Kikushino, represent the rape blossoms that are in bloom now.
