The summer is over and all light ro kimonos are packed into kimono chests and are left to wait till next summer. From now on Geiko, Maiko and Minarai will wear lined kimono right until June.
Geiko Kikutsuru's kimono that was specially made for her by a famous kimono artist. The design features water, herons and willow. Beautiful light beige obi, decorated with golden thread design, holds this rare piece.
Semiforma kitsuke of Geiko Kikumaru features gorgeous beige kimono with morning glory flowers on the fence design. Asagao or Morning Glory is one of the few flowers today that is instantly recognized as a summer motif in Japan. It is tied with checkered obi, that also featured asagao.
Maiko Kikune is wearing a gradient kimono that goes from pink at the top to blue at the hem. Carefully hand-painted water lily design are located on the sleeves and under the waist. This kimono is an embodiment of summer and can be worn until end of this month. It is tied with a subtle beige obi.
Light blue hikizuri of Maiko Kikushino has an outstanding and dramatic design - giant sea waves crushing on one another. It is tied with black obi, with enormous lantern floats from Gion Matsuri festival
Minarai Kikuyae is wearing a navy blue hikizuri, that has Pampas grass and fireflies handprinted design. The Darari obi this kimono is tied with, features grasses, flowers and geometrical designs. Simple yet refined.
